Kouka Samuel Zongo is a PhD candidate at the University of Stuttgart, currently conducting an in-depth investigation into the linguistic phenomenon of subordination in Mooré as part of the IMMAGES project. His research focuses on syntax and language comparison, particularly from a diachronic perspective.

He recently completed his master’s program in the Department of German studies at the University Joseph Ki-Zerbo in Ouagadougou, where he successfully defended his thesis on a contrastive study of subordinating conjunctions in German and Mooré, a Gur language spoken in several West African countries.

Kouka’s academic journey began with his studies in Germanic studies, during which he obtained a ‘licence es lettres’ in Ouagadougou, building a solid foundation in linguistics that has shaped his current research endeavors.

Originally from Burkina Faso, he earned his A4 baccalaureate before embarking on his university education.
